DePaul University's Theatre School unveils diverse lineup for upcoming season

The Theatre School at DePaul University has announced its 2024-2025 season, featuring six productions that will delve into the past, present, and future as it approaches its centennial celebration in 2025. “This season celebrates our long history by addressing the questions, ‘Who were we?, Who are we now?, and ‘Where are we going?’” said Martine Kei Green-Rogers, dean of The Theatre School. “We want everyone to know that we are proud of our journey and how we have evolved over the past 100 years.”

The lineup includes plays for different age groups. For families and young audiences, "Little Women" and "The Chronicles of the Kaleidoscope Visitors" will be presented. General audiences can look forward to "All’s Well That Ends Well," "Lottery Day," "Ride the Cyclone," and "Left Unheard."

“The shows lined up this year are exciting to me because they showcase the best of storytelling and imagination that The Theatre School has to offer and how we have always been a beacon of light in theatre education,” said Green-Rogers. “We look forward to answering the questions from the theme over the course of the year and we are excited that the entire campus community will share in the discovery with us!”

"Little Women" is an adaptation by Marisha Chamberlain of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, directed by Carolyn Hoerdermann. It tells the story of sisters Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy as they navigate love, loss, and their dreams while awaiting their father's return from war.

"All’s Well That Ends Well," directed by Nicole Ricciardi, runs from Nov. 1-10, 2024 at The Watts Theatre with a preview on Oct. 30. This Shakespearean play intertwines wit, deceit, love, and redemption.

"Lottery Day," written by Ike Holter and directed by Carla Stilwell, will be performed from Feb. 14-23, 2025 at The Watts Theatre with a preview on Feb. 12. It revolves around a matriarch's plan during a neighborhood barbeque in Chicago.

"Ride the Cyclone," a musical written by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell and directed by Coya Paz Brownrigg, follows six teenagers who get a chance to sing for another shot at life after a tragic accident. It runs from Feb. 26 onwards with previews starting on Feb. 26.

"The Chronicles of the Kaleidoscope Visitors," written by Omer Abbas Salem and directed by Katrina Dion, is part of Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences series running from May 15-31, 2025 at The Merle Reskin Theatre.

Lastly, "Left Unheard," written by Perse Grammer and directed by Denise Yvette Serna runs from May 23-June 1, 2025 at The Healy Theatre with a preview on May 21. It examines family dynamics through secrets held among three siblings.

Tickets for regular runs cost $30 each; DePaul students can purchase tickets for $5; faculty/staff tickets cost $15; senior tickets are priced at $20 each; remaining mainstage production tickets will be sold for $1 five minutes before performances start under Blue Demon Rush Tickets policy which is cash only.
