University welcomes new faculty members for 2024-25 academic year

As the 2024-25 school year begins, the University of Dallas welcomes new faculty members and congratulates returning members on their promotions.

Matt Dallas, PhD, postdoctoral teaching fellow of mathematics, comes to Dallas from the University of Florida.

Erik Ellis, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Education and Classical Learning, taught at Hillsdale College prior to his appointment and received his doctorate in medieval studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Abdallah Elnwasany, MD, affiliate assistant professor of biology, received his degree from Alexandria University in Egypt. Before joining the University of Dallas, he taught at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Berhanu Gebremedhin Gebregziabher, PhD, affiliate assistant professor of economics, received his degree from Michigan State University. Prior to his appointment at UDallas, he served as principal scientist of the International Livestock Research Institute in Nairobi, Kenya.

Marlene Walker, PhD, a former Denton ISD teacher, is assistant professor of education. She received her degree from Texas Woman’s University.

Paul Weinhold, PhD ’10 joins the Department of Education and Classical Learning as affiliate assistant professor of classical education.

Several professors who had taught as adjunct instructors or affiliate faculty returned for the 2024-25 year.

Matthew Berry, PhD is now assistant professor of politics. Formerly a visiting faculty member at Texas Christian University, he received his degree from Boston College.

Laura Post MFA assistant professor of printmaking formerly taught at the University of Texas at Arlington and received her degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Kevin Saylor PhD BA ’93 who received his degree from Indiana University has been reappointed to his position as affiliate assistant professor of English.

Michael West PhD BA ’06 having finished his postdoctoral teaching fellowship at UDallas is now assistant professor of English. He received his degree from Columbia University.
