St. Margaret Mary Church, located at 7813 Shelbyville Road, will host a Special Disciples of Jesus Mass on August 18 at 3 p.m. The Mass is designed for children and invites special needs families and friends to attend. The Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Louisville is organizing a healing Mass on August 21 at Holy Family Church, 3926 Poplar Level Road. Worship music will start at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Mass presided over by Passionist Father Justin Nelson, pastor of St. Agnes Church, at 7 p.m. For details, contact Bob Garvey at 435-6186.

Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre will ordain ten men to the diaconate on August 24 at St. Peter the Apostle Church, located at 5431 Johnsontown Road, starting at 11 a.m. The event is open to all.

Common Earth Gardens, an outreach initiative of Catholic Charities, seeks volunteers to assist in clearing invasive species and cataloging trees and shrubs at St. Ignatius Martyr Church, located at 1816 Rangeland Road on August 21 from noon to 3 p.m. Volunteers should bring gloves and water bottles and can sign up by emailing mbarnett@archlou.org.

St. John Center is requesting donations of men's socks for its services to the homeless community. Donations can be delivered daily between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to their location at 700 E Muhammad Ali Blvd., or through their Amazon wish list found online (https://a.co/dJQb2rP). A support group titled "Walking Through Grief" will commence on August 20 for individuals grieving the death of someone close. This free group meets Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., both via Zoom and in person at St Margaret Mary Church's Spirituality Center (7813 Shelbyville Road). The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) family support group convenes monthly on the third Sunday from 7 p.m.-8:15 p.m., hosted by St Albert the Great Church (1395 Girard Dr.). The group offers support for those caring for individuals with mental illnesses such as anxiety or depression.

Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) meet weekly every Sunday from 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m., held by St John Paul II Church (3525 Goldsmith Lane).

The Hope and Healing Grief Group supports those affected by substance abuse loss; meetings are held monthly on the third Wednesday from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., facilitated by Laura Graven in the Sacred Heart Center of St Albert the Great Church (1395 Girard Dr.). Our Lady of Lourdes Church offers DivorceCare—a free seminar/support group—for separated/divorced individuals starting August 28 through November 20 every Wednesday from 6:30-8 p.m..
