Bishop Edward J. Weisenburger | Diocese of Tucson website
One year ago this week, the diocese experienced a historic event with the ordination of five men to the priesthood. The ceremony, held at Saint Augustine Cathedral, saw participation from at least 100 clergy members and more than 1,000 laypeople.
A year later, the Catholic community returned to the Cathedral for a special Holy Hour to pray for an increase in holy vocations, particularly to the priesthood. Two hundred Catholics joined Bishop Edward Weisenburger in Eucharistic Adoration. Participants included members of Sierra Vista’s Seekers and the Office of Vocations’ Sons of Vianney and Kino Discernment Nights, groups dedicated to helping men discern their call to priesthood.
Reflecting on the past year since June 3, 2023, newly ordained priests have shared their experiences serving the community. To commemorate this significant milestone, each priest was invited by New Outlook to reflect on their journey over the past year. Their reflections reveal insights into the joys and challenges they faced and their outlook for their vocation.
Rev. Jesus Gomez is currently serving at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande.
