The Bishops of the Arizona Catholic Conference (ACC) have released a statement in response to the repeal of Arizona's pre-Roe law, reaffirming their commitment to serving pre-born children and their mothers. In the statement, the Bishops express concern over a pro-abortion initiative that is currently being circulated in Arizona.
"We do not believe that this extreme initiative is what Arizona wants or needs," said the Bishops of the ACC.
The Bishops also highlighted some of the potential consequences of the initiative, stating that it could remove safeguards for girls and women in abortion clinics, permit minors to obtain abortions without parental involvement, and allow for late-term abortions of viable pre-born children.
The statement was signed by Most Rev. John P. Dolan, Bishop of Phoenix; Most Rev. Edward J. Weisenburger, Bishop of Tucson; Most Rev. James S. Wall, Bishop of Gallup; and Most Rev. Eduardo Nevares, Auxiliary Bishop of Phoenix.
The Bishops concluded the statement by expressing their support for those who are working to promote the right to life and praying that the initiative does not succeed.
