Dr. Vern Steiner, president of the Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies in Lincoln, will be giving a presentation on Dei Verbum, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation from the Second Vatican Council on April 5 at the John XXIII Center in Lincoln. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception. Tickets for the presentation are $10 per person and can be purchased at www.lincolndiocese.org/V2.

The presentation is part of a series organized in collaboration with the Emmaus Institute, the diocesan Office of Religious Education, and the Newman Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture. The aim of the series is to prepare for the universal Church’s Jubilee Year in 2025, as requested by the Holy See, by studying the four constitutions of the Second Vatican Council.

Bishop Emeritus Fabian Bruskewitz, who was present as an usher during the final session of the Second Vatican Council, was the featured speaker at the first talk in the series held in December. He shared his personal experiences and recollections from the council.

Jeff Schinstock, director of religious education for the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln, expressed the importance of revisiting these documents in a column last fall. He stated, “The Church has again scrutinized the signs of our times and asked us to return to these documents and discern together how to be the light of the gospel in these times. I look forward to taking the journey with you.”

The Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, also known as "Dei Verbum," focuses on the interaction of Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, highlighting the significance of the Word of God in the Catholic faith.
