Lincoln, NE - Deacon Jonah Brox, a soon-to-be ordained priest of the Diocese of Lincoln, shared his journey towards priesthood, highlighting the profound influences that shaped his vocation.

Born and raised in Lincoln, Deacon Brox expressed gratitude for his upbringing in a devout Catholic family, stating, "I am blessed and so grateful that the Catholic faith has always been at the center of my family and home life." He credited his parents, Timothy and Melissa, for instilling in him the seeds of faith and vocation, with both of them being devout practitioners of their faith.

Reflecting on his early years, Deacon Brox acknowledged the pivotal role played by his childhood pastor, Msgr. Joseph Nemec, whose love for the Lord and contagious joy inspired him. He also mentioned the impact of priests who served as teachers during his high school years, emphasizing the blessing of their presence and example in shaping his calling.

Additionally, Deacon Brox highlighted the transformative experience of Leadership Camp, where he first felt the Lord's call to priesthood. Recalling a significant moment during Eucharistic adoration at the camp, he described feeling a deep tug towards the priesthood and an overwhelming sense of God's mercy and love, leading to a lasting peace in his heart.

Looking ahead to his future ministry, Deacon Brox expressed anticipation for serving the people of God through celebrating Mass, administering sacraments, and guiding souls to experience the love and mercy of the Father. He aspired to be an instrument of Christ in the world, illuminating the path for others to recognize their identity as beloved children of God.

As he prepares for his ordination, Deacon Brox humbly requested prayers for his journey towards becoming a holy priest of Jesus Christ, dedicated to fulfilling the calling he has received.
