Christian Brothers University (CBU) has proudly announced the upcoming launch of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchange (UN-SSE) Animation for International Women’s Day. The animation, created by CBU Visual Arts seniors Monserrat Vazquez and Rodrigo Medina-Mejia, will debut on the Times Square NASDAQ board on March 8, 2024, from 10:03 am to 10:07 am (EST).
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to work on the project, Vazquez shared, “I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work on the Times Square billboard for the UN. I enjoyed working as a team using our design skills to bring awareness to International Women’s Day. It’s definitely a project that has impacted me and helped me grow as a designer.”
Tiffany Grabski-Walls, UN-SSE Academy Head, commended the CBU team, stating, “This team has been great to work with, taking our script and moving quickly in the direction of a finished concept. We are thankful to partner with CBU students for this and many other projects.”
The Visual Arts Department at CBU has established a regular design internship with the UN-SSE, providing students like Medina-Mejia and Vazquez with valuable opportunities for real-world experience. Associate Professor of Graphic Design, Melinda Posey, highlighted the significance of such collaborations, stating, “Guiding students through projects that intersect with global organizations like the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchange has been incredibly rewarding.”
CBU expressed its appreciation to the UN-SSE for entrusting its students with the responsibility of crafting impactful work that aligns with the university's core values and mission of service.
