Benedictine University had a busy week celebrating Benedict and Scholastica Week, culminating in the successful installation of the university's 13th president, Dr. Joseph Foy. The week also featured a community service initiative, Feed the Need, which garnered immense support from volunteers.

Matt Hebel, MobilePack Chair, expressed gratitude for the university's support of the Feed the Need event, stating, "Without the Rice Arena, and Benedictine University saying YES to this amazing FMSC MobilePack event, we are not certain that the Feed the Need! annual tradition would have continued this year." He further commended the volunteers, highlighting that a total of 800,928 meals were packed during the event.

Ayesha Amin Moosani, President of Benedictine’s Student Senate, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “We are thrilled that our contribution helped ensure the success of this year’s event and that we played a role in continuing this important tradition." She emphasized the impact of the collective efforts, noting the impressive statistics and the significant difference made in providing meals and hope to those in need.

The community service initiative brought together over 3,000 volunteers from Feed My Starving Children, Benedictine University, and the local community to pack meals at the University’s Rice Center. The event was described as "spirit-filled and full-tilt" by Hebel, with the Rice Center living up to its name by providing rice meals to those in need.

The success of Benedict and Scholastica Week and the Feed the Need initiative showcased the university's commitment to community engagement and making a positive impact.
