DePaul University Experts Available to Discuss 2024 Primaries and General Election

DePaul University experts are available to discuss key topics surrounding local, state, and federal elections, including campaign strategy, Gen Z voters, voting rights, the impact of global politics, and more. Experts from various academic disciplines at the university are ready to provide insights and analysis on different aspects of the election process.

Manoj Mate, an Associate Professor of Law at the College of Law, is available to discuss public law, constitutional law, election law, and voting rights. Mate, who is also the director of the Racial Justice Initiative, can shed light on the implications of Supreme Court rulings and gerrymandering on voting rights. Christina Rivers, Associate Professor of Political Science at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, is a voting rights expert who can provide insights on the Supreme Court's decisions on minority voting rights, ballot access, and integrity, as well as representation. Benjamin Epstein, Associate Professor of Political Science and author of “The Only Constant is Change: Technology, Political Communication, and Innovation Over Time," can discuss the role of the internet and social media in elections. Nick Kachiroubas, Associate Teaching Professor in the School of Public Service, is available to discuss national elections, including presidential, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives races. Bruce Newman, Professor of Marketing at the Driehaus College of Business, is a leading expert on political marketing. Newman can discuss the role of political parties in a post-Trump era, marketing tactics for the 2024 presidential campaign, and voter perceptions of candidates' ages. Thomas Mockaitis, Professor of History, specializes in international security, terrorism, unconventional conflict, and military history. Xavier Perez, Criminology Faculty at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, can offer expertise on crime and violence prevention, the criminalization of immigrants, immigration as a political wedge issue, and mass incarceration. Perez can be reached at xperez2@depaul.edu.

Courtney James, Director of Student Involvement in the Division of Student Affairs, played a key role in DePaul being named a Voter Friendly Campus. James encourages student engagement in the electoral process and can provide insights on tactics to increase interest and participation in elections among college students.
