Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan | Archdiocese of New York
Cardinal Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, has sent heartfelt Lenten messages to the Hispanic community in the city. With nearly one million Latinos in the area, Cardinal Dolan recognizes the significant role that the Hispanic community plays in the Catholic Church in New York.
Speaking about the importance of the Hispanic community, Cardinal Dolan stated, "Our Hispanic brothers and sisters are not just part of the Catholic Church in New York, they are the Church here. We especially welcome the newcomers to our parishes, just as we welcomed other newcomers in generations past."
To ensure direct communication with the Hispanic community, the Archdiocese of New York's digital news platform, The Good Newsroom, will publish Cardinal Dolan's messages across all of its platforms. These messages will be shared on Ash Wednesday, the First Sunday of Lent, and the Second Sunday of Lent. The aim is to engage and evangelize the Hispanic community through various media channels.
The Good Newsroom has been actively supporting the Hispanic ministry in the archdiocese for the past fifteen years. In addition to Cardinal Dolan's messages, The Good Newsroom regularly publishes videos and articles in Spanish on its website, social media channels, app, and e-newsletter.
By reaching out to the Hispanic community during the Lenten season, Cardinal Dolan hopes to strengthen the bond between the Church and its Hispanic members. This initiative not only acknowledges the importance of the Hispanic community but also highlights the Archdiocese of New York's commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
