In a letter to the faithful, the Bishop expressed gratitude for Henry Fortier, the superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Orlando. The Bishop praised Fortier for his leadership and dedication to deepening the faith of students and the community.

During the Advent season, Fortier informed the Bishop and the Chief Operating Officer/Chancellor of the Diocese, Ms. Theresa Simon, about his decision to resign as superintendent of Catholic Schools. The Bishop expressed appreciation for Fortier's openness and the time he gave them to find a suitable replacement.

Fortier joined the Diocese of Orlando in 2011 with a mission to ignite a stronger faith within the students and the wider community. Under his guidance, Catholic identity in the schools flourished, and enrollment numbers increased. The Bishop acknowledged Fortier's efforts in ensuring that God remained at the center of education, with every school offering the opportunity to celebrate Mass.

The Bishop commended Fortier for creating a faith-filled culture that focused on the unique qualities of each child as a reflection of God's image. Fortier also worked towards standardizing school operations and academics while prioritizing the safety and well-being of students.

Fortier's commitment to collaboration and leadership led to successful partnerships between the Diocesan Mission Office and the Diocese of San Juan de la Maguana. Together, they expanded and certified mission schools, established a high school residence, and organized leadership mission trips. As a result, students from the mission schools were able to attend Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Orlando, returning home with a spirit of service to God's people.

As Catholic Schools Week approaches, the Bishop urged the faithful to offer prayers of thanksgiving for Fortier's contributions and to pray for the ongoing search for a new superintendent. The Bishop also asked for prayers for Fortier as he continues to serve God through his leadership in education and spiritual development.

The Bishop concluded the letter by assuring the community of his continued prayers and encouraging them to know, love, and serve God throughout their lives.
