Fr. Tom, with the Roman Catholic Parish of Immaculate Conception Church, said as a Catholic, we bring our faith to the public square to affirm the dignity of humans and for the common good.
"Everyone living in this country is called to participate in public life and contribute to the common good. In Rejoice and Be Glad [Gaudete et exsultate], Pope Francis writes: 'Your identification with Christ and his will involves a commitment to build with him that kingdom of love, justice and universal peace. You cannot grow in holiness without committing yourself, body and soul, to giving your best to this endeavor,'" Fr. Tom wrote in the church bulletin.
He questions what the state is without the church and asks his parishioners in what way will they vote during the election.
"Come Election Day, who is he going to vote for? He could vote for the tax collectors. He could vote for the poor. He could vote for Christ," Fr. Tom wrote in the bulletin.
