St. James Basilica in Jamestown is welcoming Kirk Ripplinger as a new deacon of the church, who was approved by Bishop John Folda of Fargo to be ordained a deacon recently.
"Kirk’s ordination has been set for Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo, North Dakota," the church said in the bulletin.
He's married to Leann, with whom he has four children. All of his children are alumni of St. John's Academy. His parents, Pete and Jeanette Ripplinger, are also members of the parish.
"Kirk and Leann have been members of St. James Basilica since July 1998," the church said in the bulletin. "Kirk and his family have been active members of our parish through Adult Education, Faith Formation, Music Ministry, Proclaiming and Natural Family Planning Education."
Ripplinger is an employee at the University of Jamestown and his wife works for Jamestown Regional Medical Center as an occupational therapist.
"Congratulations to Kirk, Leann and their family," the church said in the bulletin. "Be assured of our prayers as you make final preparations for ordination this month. A breakfast to honor Kirk and his family will be held at the KC Hall following the 9:30 Mass on Sunday, Nov. 1. All are welcome to attend as we wish Kirk and his family well in their continued ministry."
