Kady Kellogg says she could no longer wait for someone else to take action and decided it was time to take a stand for what she believes in, and to seek others who shared her views and values.

That is why she has joined the Unite Our Nation movement and is organizing a rosary rally on Saturday, Oct. 10 in Seattle. It’s time for Americans to stand up and be counted, Kellogg told American Catholic Tribune.

“I think Unite Our Nation is gaining so much support because of the crisis we are in,” she said. “People are waking up and realizing there is more we need to do and with Unite Our Nation's help, it is very doable. I chose to get involved because I can’t just sit around hoping someone else will do something.”

That’s the spirit that compelled Patrick Ciriacks and Kevin O’Brien of Wisconsin, members of the laity group Men of Christ, to organize Unite Our Nation earlier this year. They felt driven to send a message of shared effort to promote peace and prayer and have seen others across the country join the cause.

The first Eucharistic procession and patriotic rosary rally was held in Madison, Wisconsin, on Aug. 15 to coincide with the Feast of the Assumption. Organizers were amazed when around 3,000 participants showed up.

“As the disunity in our country has grown over the past few months, we knew we had to do something. So in Madison, Wisconsin, a few regular men and women organized and took to the streets on the Feast of The Assumption in a reverent and peaceful procession,” Unite Our Nation states on its website. “We prayed the rosary for our country, invoking all 50 states by name, and asked for blessings and healing as we carried Our Lord. It was beautiful, filled with families. The word got out fast, and with your help we’re taking these processions national.”

More of the peaceful, patriotic, nonpartisan gatherings, where prayer blends with and calls for national understanding and cooperation, are scheduled, including 27 such events already slated and 21 more in the planning stages.

People want to make their voices heard. That’s why Kellogg is involved. She’s no stranger to the spotlight or to big challenges — she is a member of the traveling Kellogg clan, as she and her 11 siblings and their parents Susie and Dan have traveled across the country to learn and share information and experiences as part of the Kellogg Show.

Those trips included extreme sports and home schooling, but this is a different kind of opportunity for Kady Kellogg and it's one she embraces.

“I think efforts like Unite Our Nation are important because it brings us all together to be focused on the only thing that matters and that’s to be in unity with God,” she said. “I think what Unite Our Nation means to Catholics across the country is that no matter our differences we are all created equal by God. ‘We are all his children and we are all called to be a part of his eternal family,’ – Ephesians 4.”

Kellogg, 21, said the group invites all people from all walks of life and political perspective to take part and share their message.

“Anyone can get involved by organizing an event with their local parish through Unite Our Nation's website or registering for a rosary rally in their area by checking Unite Our Nation's event page,” she said.

“I am holding a rosary rally at St. James Cathedral in Seattle on Oct. 10 at noon,” Kellogg said. “All are welcome and we encourage you to tell your friends and bring your family. We have the power of prayer, together, with the communion of saints and with the intercession of Our Blessed Mother. We will bring our strength to the streets with our most powerful weapon, the rosary, praying for peace and unity for our nation. Come join us.”
