The procession, which is open to the public, will begin at St. Joseph Church, 109 C St., according to an event press release provided to the American Catholic Tribune. The event, which is planned by local organizers, is intended to “help bring peace and prayer to LaPorte, Indiana, and healing to our nation.”
“This event, part of the nationwide movement Unite Our Nation, is prayerful, non-political and family-friendly,” the release states.
After leaving St. Joseph Church, the procession will stop at five locations, according to the release.
At St. Peter’s Church, participants will stop to pray for the dignity of life; at LaPorte City Hall, participants will pray for first responders, including police and firefighters; at the LaPorte County Courthouse, participants will pray for leaders at all levels, from the city to the world; at LaPorte Hospital participants will pray for the sick, health care workers and an end to COVID-19; finally, participants will stop at Boston Middle School to pray for teachers, principles and students.
“We want to bring glory to God and hope to all through a strong, reverent procession, giving witness to people of all races and beliefs,” event organizer Nancy Bowen said in the release.
