The Rev. Christopher Kubat has been named the new National Chaplain for the Catholic Medical Association (CMA), the organization reported on its website.

The new position will take place on Jan. 1, 2021. Kubat currently is the pastor at St. Cecilia Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, and is a board certified urologist. He will work closely with the CMA’s episcopal advisor, board and the members of the group

Kubat was already a member of the group’s Health Policy Committee, Vicar for Health Care Ministries for the Diocese of Lincoln.

“This was a difficult selection process for the nominating committee and the board,” CMA Executive Director Mario Dickerson said. “We were blessed with many qualified priests who applied and are known and loved by our members.”

CMA President Dr. Michael Parker praised Kubat, saying that he was a powerful example for the organization in his gifts and prayer, and pointing back to the Communion that believers have with Christ to carry them through this life.
