Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D. Bishop | Archdiocese of Louisville
The Dominican Sisters of Peace have announced an upcoming event tailored for Catholic women between the ages of 18 and 45 who are contemplating consecrated religious life. Scheduled to take place from May 31 to June 4 at the Motherhouse in Columbus, Ohio, the “Mission for Peace” event aims to provide participants with a firsthand experience of the congregation's lifestyle.
According to a press release from the sisters, "The program is a time when those who want to explore or discern a religious vocation can experience the lifestyle of the congregation." During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in various ministries, such as gardening, quilting for a women’s shelter, assisting nursing home residents, and serving at a soup kitchen.
In addition to participating in these activities, the women in attendance will also have the chance to listen to the sisters' stories, engage in moments of reflection, and join the community for prayer and meals. The cost of room and board will be covered for the attendees, and there are scholarship funds available to assist with travel expenses.
