Iona University's undergraduate research team, Project Symphony, under the guidance of Dr. Sunghee Lee, has achieved a significant milestone by publishing a paper in a peer-reviewed journal. The article, titled "Differential Effects of Soy Isoflavones on the Biophysical Properties of Model Membranes," was published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B, an American Chemical Society publication.

Dr. Sunghee Lee, the endowed professor leading the team, expressed the team's dedication, stating, "As a harmonized team, we spend tons of time in the lab during the busy semester and all summer long. But, when we finally get those results and we get to share them with the world, that's one of the most satisfying feelings."

An unnamed student from the team highlighted the collaborative nature of Project Symphony, saying, "It really shows what our research group, Project Symphony, is all about. Each student contributes their own unique part. We plan to keep this awesome tradition going for a long time; we want to show everyone out there what young scientists are capable of achieving."

The research conducted by the nine undergraduate students, supported by the National Science Foundation, offers valuable insights into the interactions of molecules isoflavones, genistein, and daidzein with cellular membranes. The findings are now accessible to the public and can be viewed online.

Iona University, established in 1940, is a renowned institution dedicated to academic excellence and values of justice, peace, and service. With a diverse community of learners and scholars, Iona offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs across various disciplines. The university's commitment to research and innovation is evident through the accomplishments of Project Symphony and other initiatives.

Congratulations to the undergraduate students and Dr. Sunghee Lee for their successful publication and contribution to the scientific community.
