Most Rev. Austin A. Vetter Bishop | Diocese of Helena
On October 2, Kaleb Mitchell was ordained to the transitional diaconate at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. He was one of 16 seminarians from dioceses across the United States to receive ordination on that day.
The transitional diaconate is considered the final significant step for seminarians preparing for priesthood. Those ordained typically serve as deacons for at least six months before being eligible for priestly ordination.
Kaleb Mitchell has spent six years in preparation, beginning his studies at St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver and completing two years at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. Originally from Kalispell, he also attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and worked as a camp counselor at Legendary Lodge.
“We congratulate Deacon Kaleb, and continue to pray for him, and for all of our seminarians!”
