Students from the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management program at The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies recently had the chance to explore the luxuries of hospitality at The Peninsula New York. This five-star hotel, situated on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, provided the backdrop for their insightful visit.
The students were welcomed by The Peninsula’s Catering and Events team, including two St. John’s Hospitality Management graduates. Isabel Choi and Lilly Nguyen, who now work at the hotel, shared their paths, inspiring students to envision their futures in the hospitality industry.
During their visit, students explored various aspects of the hotel's operations, including the luxurious guest rooms, suites, a rooftop bar offering Manhattan views, a wellness center and spa, and elegant event venues. They met with managers from Rooms Division, Revenue Management, and Food & Beverage, recognizing the collaborative efforts required to maintain high service standards.
Student Alexa Gangi shared her experiences: “During my tour of The Peninsula Hotel, I had the opportunity to explore three different suites, each showcasing an impressive blend of modern technology and historical authenticity.” She noted the seamless integration of technology with elegance, enhancing the guest experience.
Andrew Bermeo also reflected on the experience: “Our class’s visit to The Peninsula Hotel allowed me to observe a luxurious hotel unlike any I had seen before.”
The visit to The Peninsula reinforced students' professional aspirations, offering them a firsthand look into luxury hospitality and the importance of guest experience.
