With Mass moved outside during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Knights of Columbus pitched in to help the Jesus Our Risen Savior Parish in Spartanburg, South Carolina, setting up tents and audio equipment, directing traffic in the parking lot and collecting the offering with baskets on long poles to accommodate for social distancing.

“Christ calls us to share our faith and to give ourselves to the community,” said Knights member Larry Miller.

As part of the group’s “Leave no neighbor behind” program, the Knights have also delivered thousands of meals to the homebound.

“We could not do the Mass without the Knights helping us and getting everything ready,” said the Rev. Raphael Padron, vicar of Jesus Our Risen Savior Parish.  “At the end, it’s not for me or for them, it’s for the glory of Christ.”

Member Bill Warden says the Knights will not leave anybody behind.

“We take care of our neighbors,” he said.

Jane McQueen, president and CEO of Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, knows the Knights will be there whenever needed.

“Our message would be just, ‘Thank you,’” she said.
