Upcoming Catholic community events scheduled across central Kentucky

A series of Catholic community events are scheduled in central Kentucky in the coming weeks, offering opportunities for worship, support, and fellowship.

On January 20 at 6:30 p.m., Ascension Church will host a Mass for Youth and Young Adult Servers. Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre will celebrate the Mass at 4600 Lynnbrook Dr., with a light reception to follow. Registration is encouraged.

The Marian Committee’s First Saturday Devotion is set for January 3 at St. Ignatius Martyr Church, starting with Mass at 9 a.m., followed by devotion and reconciliation. The event includes adoration, Gospel readings, homily, and sacred music.

The Ursuline Sisters of Louisville will offer Taizé prayer on January 12 at 7 p.m. in their Motherhouse Chapel on Lexington Road.

St. William Church plans a New Year’s Day Interfaith Service for the World Day of Peace on January 1 from 10 to 11 a.m., co-sponsored by the Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion. The service will be held both in-person and online.

The St. Serra Club of Louisville’s next luncheon meeting is scheduled for January 5 at Golden Corral on Taylorsville Road, featuring Dr. Mary Beth Bowling as speaker.

St. Athanasius Church will hold a retreat titled “Anchored in Hope” on January 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., facilitated by Karen Purnell.

Young adults ages 18-35 can attend a reduced-rate retreat at St. Meinrad Archabbey in southern Indiana from January 9 to 11, which includes lodging and meals along with spiritual activities such as adoration and confession.

Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) meets weekly on Sundays at St. John Paul II Church.

Catholic Charities of Louisville’s annual fundraiser Rouler takes place February 17 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Mellwood Art Center, featuring live music, gaming, Cajun food, an auction, and open bar.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church hosts a New Year’s Eve dance featuring The Checkmates on December 31; tickets include snacks and champagne toast.

The Priest Variety Show benefiting seminarian education funds occurs January 9 at St. Xavier High School with performances including music and comedy acts alongside an art exhibit.

St. Simon and Jude Church Women’s Club holds a paint party on January 11; registration is required but all are welcome.

Loretto Community presents musicians Susan VonHoven (flute) and Vernon Cherrix (piano) December 29 at Loretto Motherhouse church; admission is free.

Assumption High School will conduct a blood drive honoring Kaitlyn Clements on January 9 from 8 a.m.–1 p.m.; appointments can be made through redcrossblood.org.
