Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch in Jerusalem, will visit the Archdiocese of Detroit from December 4 to 7, 2025. The visit will include meetings with local Catholics, celebration of Mass, and participation in events focused on strengthening ties between Detroit and Jerusalem.

A key event during the Cardinal’s visit is a fundraising dinner called "United in Faith: Bridging Hearts from the Motor City to the Holy Land," scheduled for December 5 at Saint John’s Resort. During this event, Cardinal Pizzaballa will discuss current challenges and hopes for the Church in Jerusalem.

Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger of Detroit commented on the significance of this visit: “It is a blessing for the faithful of Detroit to welcome Cardinal Pizzaballa, whose courageous witness in the Holy Land strengthens the entire Church. His visit reminds us that the Church is one body, united across every border and culture.

“It is also an occasion to renew our solidarity with the Christian community of the Holy Land and to bring greater attention to the humanitarian challenges they continue to face.”

The schedule includes an "Evening of Hope" fundraising dinner hosted by the Chaldean Catholic Diocese at Shenandoah Country Club on December 4. On December 5, there will be a press conference at Saint John’s Resort at 4:30 p.m., followed by another fundraising dinner hosted by the Archdiocese of Detroit. The public Mass will take place on December 7 at 11:30 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica.
