The annual “Lighting of the Tree of Remembrance” at Calvary Cemetery, located at 1600 Newburg Road, is scheduled for December 5 at 6:30 p.m. According to organizers, the cemetery gates will remain open for entry until 6:25 p.m.

Attendees can receive free glass ornaments to personalize and hang on the live Christmas tree in memory of loved ones. The event will feature a prayer service led by Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre, followed by the tree lighting and refreshments.

Those unable to attend the event can obtain free ornaments throughout December from the cemetery office. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own ornaments to hang on the tree, which stands just inside the cemetery entrance. Ornaments placed on the tree may be retrieved after Christmas, with a deadline of January 6.
