U.S. News & World Report has released its 2026 Best Online Programs rankings, highlighting several online degree offerings from St. John’s University. The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, The Lesley H. and William L. Collins College of Professional Studies, and The School of Education at St. John’s were all recognized in the latest evaluation.

“Online learning is no longer an alternative—it is an essential part of how we fulfill our academic mission,” said Simon G. Møller, Ph.D., Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at St. John’s University. “Our expanded commitment reflects a belief that innovation and access go hand in hand, enabling learners from diverse backgrounds to engage deeply with our faculty and curriculum.”

In the 2026 edition, Tobin’s Online Masters in Business programs ranked #33 among Best Online Master’s in Business Programs and #50 for M.B.A. Online Programs. The undergraduate business program was placed at #98.

The university’s online master’s program in criminal justice was ranked #48, while the School of Education received a ranking of #165 for Best Online Master’s in Education Programs.

St. John’s University operates as a Catholic institution founded by the Vincentian Community in 1870 and offers more than 100 undergraduate majors across six schools and colleges on campuses in Queens and Manhattan, New York, as well as international locations including Rome, Paris, and Limerick (official website). The university provides both undergraduate and graduate degree programs along with study abroad opportunities (official website).

The rankings by U.S. News & World Report assess only degree-granting programs offered online across bachelor’s degrees and various master’s disciplines such as business (including M.B.A.), engineering, information technology, criminal justice, education, and nursing.

Methodologies differ by discipline but generally measure how well programs are structured for distance learners and their ability to provide affordable degrees to both traditional students and nontraditional learners like working parents or military service members.

St. John’s has made online learning a key element of its Strategic Plan Reimagined 2025–2028, which aims to expand market-driven online learning opportunities to support student success globally while increasing equitable access to education.

St. John’s University also supports multicultural initiatives through its centers and institutes (official website) as part of its broader educational mission.
