Sandy Hoenig to lead forgiveness retreat at Our Lady of Good Counsel

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly is hosting a retreat titled “Joy of Forgiveness” on January 24-25. The event will be led by Sandy Hoenig, a presenter from Winterset, Iowa, who has more than 25 years of experience helping individuals find peace through forgiveness.
According to the organizers, the retreat aims to help participants understand what forgiveness means and how it can empower personal growth. Sandy Hoenig will guide attendees through discussions on why people hurt each other, ways to respond thoughtfully, and how to forgive oneself. The program includes reflective activities, music, prayer, and a healing service intended to support participants in letting go of burdens.
The retreat starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday and ends with lunch at noon on Sunday. It also features Mass, Eucharistic adoration, and opportunities for confession.
In a statement promoting the event, organizers said: “Those seeking emotional freedom, closure, or a fresh start are encouraged to attend the weekend retreat to discover that forgiveness is not merely an idea, but a journey of courage, healing, and deep inner peace.”
