The Nebraska Catholic Day of Giving is underway, with advance giving having started on April 20 and the main day scheduled for May 6.

The annual fundraising event is a joint effort by the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln, the Catholic Diocese of Grand Island, and the Archdiocese of Omaha. The initiative allows donors to contribute to any registered organization within these dioceses. Last year, more than $1 million was raised from nearly 2,500 people for parishes, schools, and ministries throughout Nebraska.

Dennis Kellogg, director of communications for the Diocese of Lincoln, said: “This is another great way to support our parishes, schools and ministries across all of Nebraska. Many of the organizations participating have very specific needs they are looking to address, and this is a way people can make a difference for those organizations.”

Those interested in donating can visit www.nebraskacatholicdayofgiving.org to select one of the dioceses and review participating organizations. The Diocese of Lincoln has about 40 organizations involved this year out of a total 116 entities taking part in the event.

The Diocese of Lincoln promotes adherence to Catholic traditions and engages members through communications and events according to its official website. It comprises 134 parishes and six educational institutions according to its official website, serving communities across southern Nebraska according to its official website. The diocese seeks to nurture followers who actively practice their beliefs according to its official website while offering support for vocations, family life programs, youth activities, catechesis efforts, evangelization initiatives, and charitable work according to its official website. It operates as a religious organization according to its official website.

Organizers expect that this third annual event will continue supporting local faith-based groups as well as providing opportunities for community members statewide.
