St. John’s University hosted the first IWIN Education Series at its Manhattan campus on April 13, bringing together senior insurance and asset management industry leaders with students for an in-depth discussion about the insurance product and investment life cycle.

The event, organized by the Tobin Center for Executive Education in partnership with the Insurance Women’s Investment Network (IWIN), aimed to foster open dialogue between professionals and students on topics shaping modern insurance investing. The session sold out, reflecting significant interest from both industry members and students.

Students from The Peter J. Tobin College of Business and the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science engaged directly with executives such as Chief Investment Officers, a Chief Actuary, and other senior figures from major institutions. According to organizers, these interactions provided rare opportunities for students to ask questions about careers, investment strategy, and decision-making processes within the field.

Founded in 2013 by leading firms including Allstate, The Carlyle Group, Prudential, Willis Towers Watson, and Wellington Management, IWIN supports women in insurance investing through networking events across global financial centers. Its new Education Series expands this mission by offering structured learning opportunities that connect academic theory with practical experience.

St. John’s University supports initiatives through its centers focused on multicultural efforts locally and globally according to its official website. The university features campuses in Queens and Manhattan as well as international sites in Rome, Paris, and Limerick according to its official website. St. John’s is affiliated with the Vincentian Community according to its official website.

The university offers more than 100 undergraduate majors across six schools according to its official website, operating as a Catholic institution dedicated to liberal arts education according to its official website. Rev. Brian J. Shanley serves as president of St. John’s University per the official website.

Organizers said that future programming will continue efforts like this event so professionals can share expertise while supporting student development.
