Community calendar highlights upcoming Catholic events across central Kentucky

A series of Catholic community events are scheduled in central Kentucky, according to recent announcements from local parishes and ministries.
On January 20, a Mass for Youth and Young Adult Servers will take place at Ascension Church. Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre will celebrate the Mass, which is open to altar servers and their families. A reception will follow the service.
Another Mass focused on the sanctity of life is set for January 24 at St. Raphael the Archangel Church. This event will also be celebrated by Archbishop Fabre, with Deacon Scott Haner assisting. The St. Serra Club of Louisville plans its next luncheon meeting on January 19 at Golden Corral, featuring Valerie Wilson as speaker.
Support groups addressing grief and addiction continue their regular meetings at various churches in the area. Walking Through Grief begins a new session on January 28 at St. Margaret Mary Church, running through April 1 both in person and via Zoom. The Hope and Healing Grief Group meets monthly at St. Albert the Great Church for those affected by loss due to substance use or addiction.
DivorceCare offers weekly seminars starting January 27 through April 28 at St. Margaret Mary Church’s Spirituality Center.
Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) holds weekly Sunday meetings at St. John Paul II Church.
St. Bartholomew Church is organizing a trivia night on January 23 in its Magel Center with team registration available online.
Catholic Charities of Louisville will host Rouler, its annual fundraiser, on February 17 at Mellwood Art Center with live music, gaming activities, Cajun food, a silent auction and an open bar.
Educational opportunities include “Icons 101,” a seminar presented by Benedictine Sister Jeana Viselon on January 29 at St. Patrick Church; she will discuss iconography with emphasis on the San Damiano Crucifix.
Nazareth Home’s Community Education Series continues January 28 with Dr. Jane Thibault presenting “No Act of Kindness Is Ever Wasted: The Spirituality of Aging.”
The Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry has scheduled a workshop titled “How to Speak to Teens so They Actually Listen” for March 14 at the Maloney Center.
Faith formation classes are being offered by the Archdiocese of Louisville Ministry Institute; participants must pre-register as class sizes are limited.
A listening session for Hispanic youth and young adults is planned for January 26 by the Office of Youth and Young Adults at St. Bartholomew Church.
Epiphany Church hosts “A Conversation on Women’s Roles in the Church” on January 31 featuring six women sharing their experiences in faith and service.
