Christian Brothers University (CBU) has announced that Vice President Ryan Flickinger and supporters Bob and Paula McEniry have received top honors from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Memphis Chapter. The recognition comes as part of the annual Crystal Awards, which highlight individuals and organizations making significant contributions to philanthropy in the Memphis area.

The awards will be presented at the Philanthropy Day Celebration Breakfast on November 13 at the Memphis Botanic Garden.

Ryan Flickinger, who serves as CBU’s Vice President for Advancement & External Relations, was named Outstanding Fundraising Executive. With over two decades of experience in fundraising and external relations, Flickinger oversees advancement, alumni engagement, communications and marketing, and career services at CBU. He is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

Brother Chris Englert, Interim President of CBU, said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ryan very closely in my time as CBU’s Interim President. He is a valuable member of my Executive Team with his ingenuity and steady demeanor. His strong work ethic and strategic thinking have been instrumental in laying out a framework for the future of CBU.”

Margaret McDonald, Development Officer at CBU, added: “His remarkable achievements in revenue growth, team building, community engagement, and navigating challenges have set a new standard for excellence at Christian Brothers University.”

Under Flickinger’s leadership, CBU reported a 40% increase in revenue. He has played a key role in securing more than $30 million in philanthropic investments to support the university’s mission.

Bob and Paula McEniry were recognized as Outstanding Philanthropists this year. Bob McEniry is a Trustee Emeritus at CBU and both he and his wife are known for their ongoing support of education initiatives and community service efforts. As members of CBU’s Benefactors Circle, they have contributed to scholarships, campus improvements, and student success programs.

A statement from the university congratulated all honorees: “Their commitment to the broader Memphis community exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy and leadership the Crystal Awards seek to celebrate.”
