Catholic parishes announce upcoming events across central Kentucky

A series of Catholic community events are scheduled in central Kentucky throughout January, with activities and support groups hosted by local parishes and organizations.
On January 20 at 6:30 p.m., Ascension Church will hold a Mass for Youth and Young Adult Servers at 4600 Lynnbrook Drive. Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre will celebrate the Mass, which is open to altar servers and their families. A reception will follow, and registration is encouraged.
The Ursuline Sisters of Louisville are offering Taizé prayer on January 12 at 7 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel on Lexington Road.
A Special Disciples of Jesus Mass for children with special needs, their families, and friends will take place on January 18 at St. Margaret Mary Church. The event begins at 3 p.m., followed by a light reception.
Flaget Alumni Association’s next luncheon meeting is set for January 14 at noon at Elk’s Club #8, with Father Michael Schultz as speaker.
The St. Serra Club of Louisville has planned its next luncheon meeting for January 19 at Golden Corral on Taylorsville Road. Valerie Wilson will speak about her experience as a consecrated virgin. The club also invites all to a holy hour for vocations on January 14 at St. Margaret Mary Church.
St. Athanasius Church will host a retreat titled “Anchored in Hope” on January 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., facilitated by Karen Purnell.
Support groups continue to meet regularly across the region: NAMI family support meets monthly at St. Albert the Great Church; Hope and Healing Grief Group gathers every third Wednesday; Nourish for Caregivers convenes both in person and via Zoom; GRASP (Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing) meets monthly at Holy Trinity Church; Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) holds weekly sessions at St. John Paul II Church.
Good Shepherd Church is organizing a Card Party for a Cause on January 13, with proceeds benefiting Catholic Women of Africa.
St. Bartholomew Church plans a trivia night on January 24 in its Magel Center.
The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Multicultural Ministry is partnering with St. Bernadette Moving Toward Oneness Ministry to offer a four-week “Moving Towards Oneness” process beginning January 10 through February 7.
St. Bernadette Church’s Adult Christian Enrichment Program will explore “Wisdom and Theology in the Book of Job” via online classes starting January 8 and running through late February.
