Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi offers mental health counseling for wildfire survivors

Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi announced on May 4 that its Counseling Center is providing mental health therapy services to survivors of the Maui Wildfire and Kona Low events. The organization said licensed, master’s-level clinicians are available to support individuals, couples, and families dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship or parenting challenges, and other life stressors.
The need for accessible mental health services has increased following recent disasters in Hawaii. Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi said it is committed to meeting people where they are by offering both in-person sessions at offices in Makiki, Waimalu, and Māʻili as well as secure telehealth appointments through HIPAA-compliant platforms. The organization also provides Christian-based counseling for clients who wish to incorporate faith into their care.
“Our therapists use trauma-informed and family systems approaches to support meaningful, lasting change. We’ve recently seen a rise in clients seeking family and couples counseling, with many working to break generational patterns and build healthier relationships. Even individual therapy can create positive ripple effects throughout a family,” the Counseling Center said.
