Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin shares 2026 Easter message with Archdiocese of Newark community

Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin shared his annual Easter message for the Archdiocese of Newark on April 4, encouraging the faithful to embrace hope and compassion amid uncertainty and global conflict.
Tobin’s message comes at a time when many face challenges such as war, displacement, and a longing for security. He said that Easter is a reminder that “violence, division and death do not have the final word,” and called on people to be witnesses of peace in their communities.
“The resurrection of Jesus assures us that God is present even amid suffering and confusion,” Tobin said. “Easter reminds us that violence, division and death do not have the final word. The risen Lord comes among His disciples not to judge or condemn, but to bring peace. And He entrusts that peace to us.” He added, “In our families, in our parishes, and in the gut-gripping struggles we carry, the risen Christ walks with us. He meets us patiently and calls us to be people who do not surrender to fear but choose compassion, mercy, and hope because Christ is risen, as he said!”
The Archdiocese of Newark has engaged in social outreach and community events across northern New Jersey according to the official website.
