Archdiocese of Louisville to offer Communion Minister Formation in coming months

The Archdiocese of Louisville’s Office of Worship announced on May 6 that it will provide Communion Minister Formation sessions for individuals preparing to serve as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, as well as for those who need to renew their mandate.
This program is designed as a single-session formation and is available on multiple dates. Registration is required at least one week in advance. Interested participants can register online at archlou.org/worship or by emailing worship@archlou.org.
The Communion Minister Formation program matters because extraordinary ministers play an important role in the distribution of Holy Communion during Mass and other liturgical celebrations. Their preparation ensures that they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and reverence for this responsibility.
The Archdiocese of Louisville promotes Catholic spiritual development, supports community outreach through its ministries, maintains archives for historical research, aligns with the Roman Catholic Church as an ecclesiastical territory, operates under the guidance of the Archbishop and consultative groups, and provides pastoral care across central Kentucky parishes, according to the official website.
Looking ahead, these formation sessions will help ensure that parish communities continue to have trained laypersons able to assist with sacramental ministry.
