Archdiocese of Cincinnati announces death of Deacon Mark J. Westendorf

Deacon Mark J. Westendorf, who served as a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, died on December 23, 2025, at the age of 72. He was ordained on April 24, 2010, by Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr and spent his entire ministry at The Community of the Good Shepherd parish in Loveland.

Westendorf is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Tom, along with their children Jerome, Mary John, Heather, Luke, Holly, and David and their spouses. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:45 AM to 11:45 AM on Friday, January 2 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cincinnati. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

“Please keep the repose of the soul of Deacon Mark Westendorf in your prayers, as well as peace and consolation for his entire family,” stated the announcement from the Archdiocese.
