Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D., Archbishop of Philadelphia, will visit Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish School in Northeast Philadelphia to celebrate Mass with the school community. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church on Old Bustleton Avenue.

Reverend Joseph L. Maloney, Pastor; Reverend Edward T. Kearns, Senior Priest; and Reverend Robert T. Bollinger, Parochial Vicar—all from Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish—will concelebrate the Mass with Archbishop Pérez.

During the service, students from the school will participate as readers and altar servers and present offertory gifts. After Mass, Archbishop Pérez will meet with students and tour the parish school. Andrew McLaughlin, Ed.D., Secretary for Elementary Education for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is also expected to attend.

Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish School aims to provide its students with tools to become responsible members of a global society and encourages them to model their lives after Mary by saying “Yes” to God. The school’s vision statement highlights being a “Shining Light” in all activities.

In August 2025, the school received recognition from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education with the School of Distinguished Instruction Award.

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia serves more than 1.3 million Catholics in its region and acts as a metropolitan see within Pennsylvania’s Roman Catholic Church structure. It oversees suffragan dioceses across Pennsylvania and has as its main worship site the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Through agencies like Nutritional Development Services and Catholic Social Services, it offers outreach programs for community support while promoting charitable works and justice-focused efforts across its area.

Nelson Pérez became the tenth archbishop of Philadelphia following his installation in 2020 according to information on the official website.
