Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre will lead a Holy Hour for Peace on February 6 at 5 p.m. at Holy Family Church, located at 3938 Poplar Level Road. The event is being held in response to reports of violence affecting both U.S. citizens and immigrants.

In a statement released on January 29, Archbishop Fabre said, “As God has made each of us in his image and likeness, we must continue to honor and respect the inherent human life and dignity of every person.”

He emphasized the role of Catholics in promoting peace through faith: “We are called to witness through our lived faith in Jesus Christ by not only our good works, but also our prayer.”

The initiative follows an earlier call from Archbishop Paul Coakley of Oklahoma City, who serves as president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. He urged bishops and priests nationwide to offer a Holy Hour for Peace.

Archbishop Fabre encouraged parishes to hold their own Holy Hour for Peace if they cannot attend the scheduled event. He also asked those who regularly participate in Eucharistic Adoration to dedicate part of their time in adoration for this intention.

“Join me in praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit as we address these matters, seek peace, and the protection of human life and dignity,” he concluded.
