Bishop Duca Names New Director of Catholic Charities

Bishop Michael G. Duca announced today the appointment of Stephanie K. Sterling as the new Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, effective July 1, 2024. Stephanie will succeed David C. Aguillard, who is retiring after 15 years of service.

Bishop Duca expressed confidence in Stephanie's abilities, stating, "Stephanie brings experience and a life-long commitment to the Church’s mission to serve the poor and marginalized, especially women and children." He also mentioned that David Aguillard will assist in a smooth transition until his retirement on June 30.

Stephanie Sterling, the incoming Executive Director, shared her gratitude and commitment, saying, "I am honored to be chosen to lead Catholic Charities and the exceptional people I work with." She emphasized her dedication to maintaining the agency's reputation as a reliable resource for the underserved in times of crisis.

Stephanie Sterling has a strong background in leading initiatives at Catholic Charities, including overseeing programs such as The Sanctuary for Life and implementing innovative solutions in early-childhood education and parental mentoring. She has been recognized for her work at both the local and national levels, including serving as the chair of the Children, Youth, and Families Services Steering Committee at Catholic Charities USA.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Stephanie serves on various advisory boards and has presented at conferences on a range of topics related to her field. She holds degrees from Louisiana State University and Tulane, as well as certifications in Adoption and Foster Care Competence.

As she looks forward to leading Catholic Charities into its next phase, Stephanie Sterling expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, "I look forward to working alongside our outstanding team to move the mission of Catholic Charities forward."
