Graduate students in the Counselor Education Department within The School of Education at St. John’s University were recognized on Saturday, April 27, 2024, with induction into the national counseling honor society, Chi Sigma Iota. Thirty-two new students joined our Sigma Tau Upsilon chapter, bringing the total of SJU Counseling students up to 350 since the chapter was reactivated in 2012. Chapter co-advisors Dr. Heather Robertson and Dr. Nouna Jalilzadeh were thrilled to welcome these amazing students to the honor society.

Highlights of the ceremony included remarks by Clinical Mental Health Counseling student alumnae, Vassiliki Pappas and Helen Almonacid. The event also saw recognition of fulltime faculty member, Dr. Qiana Spellman, and adjunct faculty member, Dr. Brittany Dotson-Lazar, for their commitment to the students in the program.

For more information on the Sigma Tau Upsilon Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, please contact Dr. Robertson at [email protected] or Dr. Jalilzadeh at [email protected].
